Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is so stocked up hand sanitizer during the COVID-19 pandemic that the state now doesn't know what to do with it. And you can't use it anymore. The edition told in more detail New York Post.
The state is forced to dump 700 gallons (000 million liters) of sanitizer after a federal government order placed a ban on the distribution of any disinfectant made by non-pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Since March 2020, Cuomo's NYS Clean initiative has distributed about 1 million gallons of hand sanitizer to local governments, nursing homes, hospitals and schools, according to the New York City General Services Administration.

But the decision of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) prohibits the use of this product, and it can no longer be distributed.
The problem is that no one needs the excess disinfectant, and the state authorities do not know how to dispose of it.
The product is currently out of use and stored at the New York State Preparedness Training Center in Oriskany, according to a State of Politics report.
Retailers faced an oversupply of disinfectant last year and began distributing it.
"New York State continues to store material in the safest possible manner as FDA regulations prohibit the state from distributing leftover stocks of hand sanitizer, and we are determining the proper disposal method and timeline to do so," said OGS spokeswoman Heather Groll.
