The Vessel skyscraper in Hudson Yards was closed on January 12 indefinitely due to suicides. Three suicides were committed at this tourist attraction in a year. Thus, the owner of the building is trying to stop the flow of suicides, writes New York Post.
The companies that created the Hudson Yards complex on Manhattan's West Side are working with psychiatrists and suicide prevention experts. They want to develop plans to prevent jumping from the huge staircase that surrounds the building.
The company has also hired additional security personnel who have received specialized training in detecting and dealing with people who potentially intend to commit suicide.
It is unclear when the popular tourist attraction will reopen, but its website orders for Flex Pass entry tickets for any dates before April 1st are not accepted.
There is no other information on the site, it says only: "Vessel is currently closed."

On January 11, a spokeswoman for the building said Vessel had been temporarily closed following the suicide of 21-year-old Franklin Washington, who jumped off at about 11:45 am that day.
Washington's suicide came less than three weeks after a 24-year-old woman from Brooklyn took her own life by jumping from Vessel on December 22.
The first suicide in the building occurred in February 2020, when a 19-year-old from New Jersey died.
