A mysterious millionaire has appeared in the Bronx. On January 17, during the Mega Millions draw, a deli in Mount Eden sold a $20 million winning ticket, reports New York Post.

“I was speechless for a minute!” said Fahad Abubaker, son of the owner of the 170th Street Grocery where the ticket was sold.

“It's great for the Bronx. It's great for the area. No one has ever won in this area before, especially recently.”

The big win was announced on Wednesday by the New York Lottery.

Someone claimed to have a winning ticket, the New York State Gaming Commission said. And the state is in the process of being reviewed.

“Whoever it is, I hope it's one of our regular customers from the area. The one who comes to our store every day and supports us,” Abubaker suggested. This shop has been operating here for 20 years. And no one has ever won even close to a million dollars.”

If the winner takes their money in a lump sum, the $20 million after-tax winnings would be $6,5 million, the gambling commission said.

“I wish I had bought that ticket,” lamented 69-year-old Frances Malcolm. Who doesn't need extra money?

But, according to her, “she is very happy for the person who won.”

When asked what she would do if she won, Malcolm replied that she would buy a house.

“My mother is 94 years old, I would take her with me,” she explained. “I would make sure that she gets everything she needs, no matter how long she lives here.”

“I'm dying to know who won,” admitted Anthony Davis. - I didn't play last night, I missed it. So I don't believe in it."

Davis said he spends $40 a day on lotto. And just won $200 on Pick 4 but hasn't claimed my winnings yet.

“If I had come in last night and cashed in my ticket, I would have played Mega Millions. Regret. I will now go out into the street and cry.”

“I love this store. This is my place,” Davis said. “I have been shopping here for many years, but have never won anything like this.”

“I wish it was me,” retired Elijah Moore, 64, said with a laugh. “Then I would take my family all over the world. I have been to 29 countries. But no one in my family has ever traveled outside the country.”

The most common sentiment among those gathered at 170th St. Grocery at lunchtime on Wednesday, was proud that the money came to the Bronx.

“It's high time,” said one of the regulars. “You have heard of New Hampshire, of distant places. Our time has come!”
