The New York air smelled like Christmas. Macy's department store has opened its holiday windows and this year you can influence the grand show behind the window glass. CBS.
Macy's made their displays interactive. This year, visitors can press a button to start the show in the window. There's also a selfie station that puts your face on display and makes it part of the festive installation.
The tradition of New York City holiday windows dates back to the 1800s, although they were certainly much simpler back then. The theme of Macy's windows this season is the giving of love.
“I wanted to connect Christmas traditions with new media, like bringing technology into a gingerbread display case,” said Manny Urquizo, Macy's director of holiday display cases.

Nordstrom Bloomingdales and Bergdorf Goodman have already presented their festive showcases this season. Saks will present their Christmas display later in November.
