Extremely cold air blew into the area over the weekend, with temperatures plummeting on January 7 and reaching single digits on the evenings of January 7 and 8. On January 9, after lunch, it again rose to 0 ° C.

Low temperatures may have precipitated a heavy blizzard, but depending on the warm-up time, a milder winter mix is ​​also possible.

Dombek said: "The colder it gets at the beginning of the storm and the longer the cold stays, the more snow will fall."
