Two women were raped in popular parks in New York this week. The attacks took place during daylight hours.
Violent attack in Central Park
A 27-year-old woman was violently sexually assaulted on November 11 Central park... It happened at about 7:20 am: the woman went for a run, the rapist attacked her, strangled her until she lost consciousness and raped, reports New York Daily News.
The victim was walking along a secluded footpath near Swan Lake, on the southeastern edge of the park near W. 59th Street, when she was attacked from behind.
The victim was taken to hospital, where her condition was assessed as stable. Police later released photographs of the man wanted in the attack, offering a reward of $ 3500 for information about him.

After the incident, the police promised to increase the number of patrols in Central Park.
Rape of a teenager
On November 10, a 13-year-old girl from the Bronx was exposed to to violence in Crotona park on the way home from school. Cops hunt for a suspect, captured by CCTV cameras.
The child was raped in Crotona Park around 14:30 pm Wednesday. The police reported that the rapist knocked the victim to the ground and tore off her leggings. After being raped, he stole her mobile phone and ran away. The doctors took the injured girl to the hospital.
The police released a photo and video of the suspect.
Attempted rape in East Harlem
On November 11, at around 8:00 am, police arrived to receive a call for attempted rape on the footpath on the Randalls Island Bridge. They later arrested the suspect. It turned out to be a previously convicted sexual assault offender who was released from prison just two days before the attack.
The suspect in the case, 38-year-old Howard Shaw, attacked a woman in her 50s. A witness called 911, and soon the police arrived and took Shaw into custody.
He is accused of attempted rape and strangulation of the victim.
Official documents show that in 2012 the detainee was sentenced to 14 years in prison for assault and sexual assault. On November 9, 2021, he was released from prison on parole. Police sources said he raped a 25-year-old woman in Queens in 2005 and was arrested two years later.
