According to the governor of the region, Andrew Cuomo, these are the lowest daily death rates from the virus in the state over the past two weeks.

The official also noted that on April 17 two thousand people with complications caused by the virus were taken to hospitals. The last time such figures were recorded at the end of March, when the wave of strong growth in infections and mortality from COVID-19 was just beginning. Thus, we can assume that the epidemic in the state is on the decline.

Cuomo announced that on Monday (April 20), New York State will begin mass testing residents for antibodies to coronavirus to determine how many people in the state have actually been infected.

Cuomo said 3 people were selected for testing by the state health department. They will receive test kits shortly.
