Opinion: New York, as the city where the whole world aspired, is no more and never will be

Friends recently asked what I think about New York and how, in my opinion, the fate of this world famous metropolis will turn out. They live there, in New York, and their interest is understandable. True, the way the question was posed indicated a firm belief that in time everything would return to normal. This is understandable. They have too much invested in this city - and funds, and efforts, and time. And for them the idea of ​​the need to move is in itself terrible and monstrous ... and generally unacceptable. Therefore, why the question is not clear. They already have their own answer. Nevertheless, I would venture to reflect on this topic, especially since the future does not depend on my reflections. Either I'll guess or not.

So, as always in situations like this, let's turn to a story that we tend to forget or misinterpret. And, even worse and more often, to ignore her lessons, provided free of charge to us to eliminate total historical illiteracy.

Whom in all ages did they not love together and against whom they often rebelled? That's right, against the rich. Why? They wanted to take away and punish. What to take away? Accumulated, collected, created, built. And for what to punish? For being smarter, faster, smarter, more economical, more prudent. That is, for all those qualities that distinguish the lazy from the hard-working, and perhaps even the rich from everyone else.

And why did they want to ditch the rich? Didn't understand what it is like to saw the branch on which you are sitting? After all, they have been the engines of progress in all centuries. And even if not necessarily through personal efforts (although this often happened), they sponsored artists, composers, scientists, and inventors, many of whom were much ahead of their time, and without them they themselves would not have made it through ...

Yes, the church slowed down, and this is natural. She had to be afraid of losing influence. Whether she lost it or not due to the ever-advancing progress is the topic of a separate essay or even an overwhelming scientific work.

The rich in all ages have given work to everyone, that is, they were not out of kindness, but rather out of necessity, job creators. And jobs are the movement of the economy, trade, the flourishing of cities, the strengthening of the power of the state. And, accordingly, the loss of businesses that they owned leads to the loss of jobs, economic downturn, destruction of cities and even entire empires. This also happened, although not overnight. Rome at least remember. And other arrogant ones too ... Everything is simple and accessible for study to everyone who can read and analyze the read a little.

The most amazing thing is that in today's world nothing has changed, although most it is unclear. As a result, many legislators and us stewards believe that those who have should be taken away and punished for their success, while encouraging parasites, which themselves and spawned millions.

And I suddenly remembered that at the beginning of the last century in developed, powerful, brilliantly functioning Russia, they also tried to conduct an experiment of this kind. All of us born there we know well how it ended. By the way, this was not the only attempt to “take away and divide”, but, again, those who studied history remember very well: all such attempts have brilliantly failed. Immediately or gradually. Again, all the information is freely available to us. Find, read, think, draw conclusions.

Now let's get back to our topic. DI think New York, as a city where the whole world aspired, no longer exists and never will be. And you can easily disagree with me. But time is inexorable like a mirror. It will show everything, whether you want it or not. So soon we will see everything for ourselves.

My logic is this: as a result of the pandemic and the criminal actions of the local government in response to it, the city was destroyed and it will no longer rise. The people are running 300-500 people a day. The information is well-known and the companies for the transportation of the population openly inform all those interested about it. To some, this figure will not seem significant, but we can return to this conversation exactly one year later and have already summed up some results. Then, in my opinion, everything will be more or less clear.

So what's going on in New York now?

Thousands of small businesses that have been the tirelessly beating heart of the city have been shut down. Most of them will never open again. Many bankrupt owners have already left the city and even the state and settled elsewhere. It is a fact. And although it is financially today, it may even be profitable to open a business in the city, as you can see, no one is in a hurry to do this. I'm afraid this trend will last.

Bandits and degenerates of all stripes from all volosts were allowed to rob and, naturally, they did not refuse. The police instructed them not to touch them. Result? The people are running even faster. Nobody wants to live in a crime dump. And this is not only the present, but also the future.

The hotels are occupied by the homeless. The streets are dirty, garbage excrement, syringes ... Whoever wins the elections, this ship, like the Titanic, will not deploy on the move.

Many restaurants are gone. Each one who leaves, pulls five neighbors with him. Many big businesses are closed, the windows are boarded up with plywood. People work from home, and many will not return to empty offices. And these are millions of lost dollars, which there is nothing to compensate, although, of course, as they always did (which will aggravate the situation even more), the “clever men and women” will hang debts on the remaining rich moneybags. What are they? And they, who remained, tolerate, tolerate and despair to others, more favorable shores. Thank God, there are still some. Property owners are pouring in like a house of cards, declaring bankruptcy one after another, as they have nothing to cover the costs. Businesses go away and the tenants, of course, follow them too.

That is, there is a downward spiral movement, and the lower, the more powerfully everything and everyone is drawn into this funnel.

If this trend continues, the situation will only get worse, in my opinion. By the way, on the other side, in California, we already have precedents of such an approach to solving problems and what kind of cesspool can be turned into cities that are blooming for everyone's sake.

But, as I have said more than once, other people's mistakes do not deter anyone from repeatedly stepping on their own rake. They, those on whom the whole city of New York stood, no matter how strange and stupid, no one will help. This requires brains, foresight, knowledge of history and the desire to do something else besides trying to hold on. in your own chair while you still can.

Those who were released from prison and insane asylums did not decorate the city in any way. The hotels they are still in due to the lack of ordinary guests, they live, they endure this madness, since the city pays. But the hotels that are not intended for this will get bored, and the city will run out of money. Hundreds of class actions will only finish off and ruin those who did it all, because of whom there were so many deaths in general and in nursing homes in particular.

All this, albeit not so quickly, is already happening. Even if liars and crooks do not shout about it from morning to evening on central channels, although they could, if such a once respected profession as an impartial journalist did not gradually turn into its opposite. Unfortunately.

Well, then let your roaming fantasy will tell you what will happen. Hundreds of cops are leaving the city. Someone changes their profession, someone retires early and leaves. And rightly so. They have nothing to do where this critical and difficult work is not only not paid according to the risk, it is not only not respected, but also punished for conscientious work.

What else is left?

Broadway? I don't think he will ever return in his former glory and glory. Some theaters may open over time, but most of them will be lost.

So what's in our denominator? We have a question: why did people from all over the world rush to New York?

The answer is Broadway; food representing cuisines from all over the world; a seething, rich cultural life that does not subside twenty-four hours a day; the opportunity to breathe the air of the main financial capital of the world; no serious crime; decently working transport; an opportunity to spend time with benefit, to go around the best shops in the world, to please yourself and children ... Spend an unforgettable vacation.

What is left of this? The short answer is nothing. And the coming holidays, which are not far off, will clearly demonstrate this to all of us. I think after the New Year everything will become clear to everyone.

Some, however, say that a few years will pass and New York will return. Maybe. But I don't have such a plan strategically in my head. I see no reason go there, buy real estate there or open a business.

On the other hand, maybe it’s only I don’t see it, while others, on the contrary, see it. And this is also very easy to check. If by the end of 2021 New York will once again sparkle with its lights, everything will return (even if not yet completely) and the people will rush there again, then I will be the first to ask you to forgive me for not believing in the return of its former greatness. I am for it! And quite frankly I will be very glad of my miscalculation. People are wrong. I could be wrong too.

Although ... I can guess by chance ... I am not Wanga, not Nostradamus and not Messing, but it seems to me that sometimes this gift is not even needed. It happens that simple logic and even an amateurish understanding of the course of historically determined events can suggest that, regardless of the power, the mood of the population, the weather and the speed of movement of meteorites, twice and two still has the same result as always. Lying or sitting. Winter or summer. Among supporters or non-partisans. Although perhaps among people, inhabiting our amazing planet, there are those who will not agree with this. They have every right. Have every right ... I personally think so.
