When is the best time to book flights to buy them at the best price

According to new data, the best day to book cheap flights is Sunday, and the worst is Friday. Yahoo Finance.

Travelers who book on Sundays instead of Fridays can save 20% on fares, according to a report by Expedia Air Travel Hacks. This applies to both domestic and international flights.

By booking your flights in advance, you can save even more if you don't wait until the last minute.

“The best time to get the best price on domestic flights is between 70-100 days, about three months before travel,” the report says.

The key to booking international flights is early booking, with prices traditionally the cheapest 160 days in advance.

For domestic flights, booking three months in advance can save you an average of 30%. For international flights, booking six months in advance will reduce the price of your ticket by almost 25%.

Another way to save money, according to Expedia, is to start your trip at the end of the week.

“In general, travelers who traveled on Saturday, as opposed to Monday, saved up to 20% on domestic flights. And on international flights, passengers who departed on Friday instead of Sunday saved an average of 10%.”

To avoid flight disruptions, Expedia recommends flying during the day (9:00 am to 15:00 pm). And avoid peak travel periods whenever possible, as flight cancellations are most likely in January and least likely in February.

The number of overseas flights is rapidly increasing. This is due to the sharp rise in international airfare prices.

Data from the travel search engine KAYAK showed a 164% increase in requests for international flights in the December period compared to the same period before the pandemic in 2019.

This is despite a 33 percent increase in the cost of round-trip economy airfare, making flights about $500 more expensive.
