Not white, but gray winter: New York sets a record for the number of days without snow

Although it's midwinter now, several cities along I-95 haven't yet seen their first noticeable snow this season. New York Post.
There has been no snow in New York City since March 9th. This snowless strip lasts 308 days and is the 4th longest in the history of the city. The New York City record for consecutive snowless days was set in 1973 with 322 days.
The first noticeable snow in New York usually appears by December 11th. The last time it fell later than usual was on January 29, 1973.
Washington, D.C. also set its record for the longest snowless period in 1973, staying dry until February 23rd. As of January 10, the last time it snowed in the capital was on March 12, 2022.

A little further down I-95, Philadelphia is also approaching the record for late first snow. In 1995, in Philadelphia, it fell only the day after Groundhog Day - February 3rd. Like Washington, there has been no snow in Philadelphia since March 12, 2022.
Further south, Baltimore, Maryland and Richmond, Virginia are fast approaching their latest first snow records on February 21 and 26, respectively.
According to NOAA's monthly forecast for January, temperatures along I-95 will remain above average and all incoming precipitation will fall as rain. If the forecast is justified, then each of these cities will be able to approach the record of a snowless strip.
