New York hairdressing chain is letting customers decide how much they want to pay

Fellow Barber founder Sam Buffa has 11 locations in New York and California.

All barbershops now have a new offer for customers: “pay what you can”.

“That means you can go to any of our barbershops seven days a week with one of our junior barbers. You can pay at your discretion from 0 to $100,” Buffa said.

Haircuts here usually cost between $40 and $50.

The “pay what you can” option was temporary during the worst days of the pandemic, but now that inflation is rising, the company has decided to make it permanent.

A fellow hairdresser ensures that junior hairdressers do not suffer financial losses. The Company will cover the costs of the pay-as-you-go program.

The founder of barbershops says that so far they are practically break even. And the long term is likely to earn new loyal customers.
