A sculpture of a Russian rocket stuck in the ground near the “Attacking Bull” statue on Wall Street was placed for one day by activists of the Ukrainian charity organization UAnimals. This was announced on the page in Facebook one of the leaders of this organization Alexander Todorchuk.
The pop-up installation is designed to draw attention to the ecocide that Russia is committing during the war in Ukraine.
“With this action, we rethink the message of the popular statue and show that an angry bull can be just a frightened animal that is fleeing the war. During a full-scale invasion, Russia kills not only people, but also millions of animals. And it destroys the ecosystem as a whole,” writes Todorchuk.
The organization estimates that millions of animals in Ukraine have died due to Russian aggression. And also 182 sq. m of soil suffered due to pollution with harmful substances. In addition, 880 nature reserves and 8 national natural parks of Ukraine are under occupation.
To combat this crime, UAnimals launched an international campaign #StopEcocideUkraine.
You can take a step towards punishing Russia for environmental crimes during the war right now by signing international petition to the UN and the EU.
