In an effort to improve connectivity to "the best new airport in the world" and reduce road traffic, the Port Authority has made a new proposal for a possible ferry service between East Manhattan and LA Guardia Airport (LGA), reports Secret nyc.
The proposal is for two potential ferry landings that require additional connections to Terminal B, C and A. The first option would be Bowery Bay, located on the west side the airport. For airport access from the east side, a ferry service may arrive at Flushing Bay.

Under this proposal, potential ferry stops could include the pre-existing Pier 11 at Nizhny Manhattan, E. 34 in Midtown Manhattan, E. 90 in Upper Manhattan along any of the routes. From E. 34 in Midtown Manhattan, the route will be 10 km to landing at Bowery Bay and 15 km to Flushing Bay.
True, there have already been attempts to add a ferry service from Manhattan to the LGA, but the efforts were in vain.
While Queens County President Donovan Richards said the ferry service was "meaningless" to him and "opening up the waterways is an attractive option," other key stakeholders are pushing for alternative connectivity options such as bus, light rail and metro.
In general, the final decision will be made after numerous public workshops, as well as the input AIT , international, national and regional transport experts.
