Museum Day in New York: which places you can visit for free

September 18 is the day of free admission to museums in the United States. Many cultural institutions in New York City also participate in Museum Day and offer free admission to all comers. Their list was published by the edition Time-out.
Labor Day weekend is just around the corner, and New York City's cultural season is about to revive. Part of this wave will be new must-see art exhibitions and exciting gallery events. Mark 18 September on your calendar, the annual Museum Day, when many venues are free to visit.
This year, museums across the country will once again offer free admission to the one-day event to anyone presenting a special ticket. Participants are allowed to upload one ticket to one email address. The ticket provides general access to any participating museum for two people.
This year the following popular New York museums are taking part in the event:
- The Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum
- The Museum of Arts and Design
- The Museum of the City of New York
- The New York City Fire Museum
- Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art at Snug Harbor

- The AKC Museum of the Dog
- The noble maritime collection
- Williamsburg Art & Historical Center
