This Saturday, February 27, Jews living in New York will gather for a protest near 30 Rock in Manhattan. The reason for their outrage was a bad joke from the host of Saturday Night Live. Details told the publication New York Post.
Former Brooklyn MP Dov Hikind said the protest would take place outside NBC's West 49th Street headquarters on February 27 at 21:00 pm - just in time for the popular show's next episode.
“We go to NBC to educate, not to punish someone. We're going to say it's not funny, ”Hikind said in a video titled“ Anti-Semitism Can't Be Funny, Period! ”
He and Sid Rosenberg, co-host of WABC radio show Bernie and Sid in the Morning, will spearhead the protest.
What a joke provoked Jewish outrage
Saturday Night Live co-host Michael Che was criticized for a joke in a recent episode of the show. He said: “Israel reports that half of the population has already been vaccinated there. I think we are talking about the Jewish half. "
According to Jewish Virtual Library, the vast majority of Israel's population - 74% - are Jews.

According to a January article in The Christian Science Monitor, vaccination rates for Israeli Arabs are much lower than those for Jews. The reason for this lies mainly in the Arab community's distrust of the government.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) also called the host's joke "deeply offensive."
"Saturday Night Live is known for public criticism, but this deeply offensive joke about the COVID-19 vaccination process in Israel has crossed the line," ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said Monday.
He said the joke was based on "factual inaccuracies" and was "anti-Semitic."
