NYPD officers' guns stolen from luggage on flight to Atlanta

Two NYPD officers who took off on a flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport on Thursday had their service firearms stolen from their luggage, reports Silive.
Police officers from the 44th Precinct in the Bronx were flying to Atlanta on a JetBlue flight.
They had 9mm pistols packed in their luggage in accordance with US Customs regulations. Their flight was supposed to leave New York around 14:00 pm. Although the flight usually takes approximately 2,5 hours, the officers did not arrive in Atlanta until 20:00 pm due to a delay.

The officers notified the Atlanta police of the incident after they collected the luggage and discovered the weapons were missing.
Atlanta police are continuing to investigate the incident.
